Yash Patnaik on Dhaakad Beera: It’s a story of resilience, courage, and emotional connect
Producer Yash Patnaik, known for creating some of Indian television’s most impactful shows, is now bringing audiences a high-octane drama with Dhaakad Beera produced by Yash and Mamta Patnaik under Inspire Films. The show is being loved by the audience. It is rooted in the heartlands of India, and blends action, emotion, and authenticity in equal measure. Speaking about what inspired the creation of Dhaakad Beera, he says, “The inspiration came from the heartlands of India, where strength, honor, and family values define people’s lives. Dhaakad Beera is not just a story of one boy, but of resilience and courage in the face of societal barriers. The core thought was to celebrate the undying spirit of someone who stands tall against odds, a character who inspires both pride and relatability.” Talking about the title, he says it carries the power of the story. “The word ‘Dhaakad’ instantly conveys grit, fearlessness, and an indomitable attitude. ‘Beera’ gives it a rooted, desi identity. Together, the title reflects the energy, power, and authenticity of the central character. It was important for us that the name itself should feel like a personality, larger than life, yet deeply connected to its soil,” he says. Authenticity, however, came with its set of challenges, says the producer, adding, “Creating authenticity was our biggest challenge. We wanted to present Haryana’s ethos without slipping into stereotypes. Getting the dialect, cultural nuances, production design, and casting right took a lot of effort. Another challenge was balancing high-energy drama with emotional depth, ensuring that the show connects beyond action and delivers heart-touching moments.”
Balancing drama and relatability has been a conscious effort by Yash. “We consciously ensure that every dramatic moment stems from real emotions. The action and intensity become impactful only when the audience connects with Beera’s struggles and relationships. Our writers’ room constantly asks one question: ‘Will the audience feel this?’ That emotional core allows us to weave in drama and action naturally without losing relatability,” he says. The feedback so far has reinforced the show’s vision. “The most touching feedback has been from viewers who see their own brother, son, or friend in Beera. Many have said the character reminds them of the protective spirit of their families. That emotional connect is exactly what we aimed for, when audiences start treating a fictional hero as their own, you know the show has landed well,” he says. On what sets the show apart from his earlier projects, Yash says, “Most of my earlier shows have explored family, love, and drama in contemporary urban or semi-urban setups. Dhaakad Beera stands out because of its raw rootedness and its focus on a hero who embodies courage over comfort. It’s more rugged, more action-driven, and yet emotionally universal. For me, it’s a new canvas in terms of storytelling language and scale.” For younger audiences too, Dhaakad Beera offers freshness. “Today’s audience, especially the youth, want pace and impact. We’ve structured the narrative with cinematic treatment, gripping hooks, and high emotional payoffs. At the same time, the show remains rooted in tradition and values. That blend of fast-paced storytelling with cultural authenticity is what makes Dhaakad Beera appealing across generations,” he adds. Yash also hints at what’s next in the story. “Without giving away spoilers, I can promise that Beera’s journey will continue to surprise viewers. There are new alliances, emotional upheavals, and action-driven twists that will keep the energy high. More than just spectacle, we’ll keep deepening Beera’s emotional arc so the audience grows with him. The goal is to ensure every week feels bigger and more engaging than the last,” he says.
